Statement of Purpose: To promote the study of homosexuality in the past and present by facilitating communication among scholars in a variety of disciplines working on a variety of cultures. CLGBTH publishes newsletters and sponsors sessions on lesbian and gay history at the annual meeting of the American Historical Association. It encourages the development of specialized courses on lesbian and gay studies as well as the inclusion of lesbian and gay topics in general history courses. It promotes local history archives and projects and coordinates activities with other professional caucuses. CLGBTH also seeks to prevent discrimination against lesbian and gay historians, in keeping with AHA policies.
