Statement of Purpose: The purpose of the Association of Ancient Historians is to further the teaching of, and research in, ancient history, especially in Canada and the United States, in cooperation with the American Historical Association, the Society for Classical Studies, the Classical Association of Canada, and other societies to which this field is of interest. Ancient history, for the purpose of this association, is defined as the history of the ancient Mediterranean world and the history of other countries in their relationship with it.
