AHA in the News

The staff and leadership of the American Historical Association are frequently quoted by the media. Staff and Council members have published op-eds in national and local media outlets.

Annual Meeting Press Policy

Credentialed working journalists will be provided complimentary press registration to cover the American Historical Association’s annual meeting. To register for the annual meeting as a member of the press, complete the registration form. You are welcome to contact communications director Alexandra Levy to discuss content of interest, or to make arrangements to interview AHA officers or meeting participants.

Members of the press interested in attending the annual meeting should read our annual meeting press policy, which covers important information regarding press credentials, our policy for filming or recording sessions, permissions to record sessions, and sound and electric during the meeting.

AHA Advocacy

In a wide range of situations, whether involving the rights and careers of individual historians, historical practice in diverse venues, or the role of history in public culture, the American Historical Association has the responsibility to take public stands. In the past few years, the AHA has sponsored amicus briefs considered by the US Supreme Court; sent letters to states considering legislation that would restrict history education or eliminate tenure at public universities; and opposed decisions by academic institutions to cut history departments and terminate faculty members.

Press Releases

The AHA issues press releases on topics of importance—national and local—to the Association. To be added to our press list, please email communications director Alexandra Levy (alevy@historians.org).
