Association for the Study of Nationalities
Established: 1971. Membership: 1,000. Annual dues: $40 student$; $70 general.
Statement of Purpose: To promote the study of nationalities problems and issues of ethnic conflict in the former USSR and in the countries of eastern Europe. ASN sponsors an annual convention, panels at many disciplinary conferences and conventions, and maintains close contacts with several academic institutions located in the former USSR and eastern Europe, as well as with numerous western European and North American organizations.
