Survey Says: Data on Historians Teaching Off the Tenure Track

Join us at AHA26 in Chicago for a session on the AHA's surveys collecting information about the working conditions of historians employed as contingent faculty. This session will share the results of this survey with our membership, share responses, and consider how we might package and present the data in ways that would serve the interests and needs of non-tenure track faculty historians.

AHA Surveys: Historians Teaching Off the Tenure Track

The AHA sought to collect and collate information about the working conditions of historians employed as contingent faculty. We developed two surveys, one for non-tenure-track faculty (NTT) and one for department chairs. The AHA will share a report with the results of the surveys later in 2025.
