Announces
The James Harvey Robinson Prize
for 2014
The James Harvey Robinson Prize was established by the AHA Council in 1978 and is awarded biennially for the teaching aid which has made the most outstanding contribution to the teaching and learning of history in any field for public or educational purposes. "Teaching aid" encompasses textbooks, source and reference materials, audiovisuals, computer-assisted instruction, and public history or museum materials. Monographs and revisions will not be considered. The winner will receive a one-year membership in the Association. Items to be submitted for the 2014 competition must have an imprint of 2012 or 2013.
Judging will follow these criteria:
1. The work should have the potential to influence history education. This influence could be in the form of a model that would have wide adaptability, and/or the influence could affect teachers and students through widely taught courses.
2. The work must demonstrate recent and good historical scholarship.
3. The work must be well written and attractively presented.
4. Monographs and revisions will not be considered.
One copy of each entry must be received by each of the individuals listed below by or on May 15, 2014. Entries not received by that date will not be considered.
Contact information for judges and a submission data collection form
will be posted by March 30.
Please Note: The deadline for submission of entries is May 15, 2014. Entries will not be returned. Recipients will be announced at the January 2-5, 2015, AHA annual meeting in New York, NY.
