CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The Society for U.S. Intellectual History (S-USIH) is now accepting submissions for the MIH/S-USIH Graduate Student Conference Paper Prize, for the best paper presented by a graduate student during the 2020–2021 conference year. All submissions must be based on conference papers delivered by graduate students who — as of the date of their panels — had not yet received the Ph.D. degree. In recognition that some papers are based on longer articles or dissertation chapters, the committee will consider submissions between 2,500 and 10,000 words in length. Conference papers based on previously published materials will not be considered.

The student will receive a prize designation and modest honorarium, and the paper will be shepherded through the publication process at Modern Intellectual History.

If you would like to be considered for this year’s competition, please submit your paper to Angus Burgin: burgin@jhu.edu. He will make it available to committee members, listed below.

The submission deadline is April 30, 2021. The recipient will be announced in June 2021.

Committee:
Robin Averbeck, California State University, Chico
Angus Burgin, Johns Hopkins University
Janine Giordano Drake, Indiana University
Daniel Wickberg, University of Texas at Dallas
