In its 47th year, the D.C. History Conference is excited to welcome submissions for our 2020 virtual conference, to take place November 12-13, 2020, exploring topics related to the theme “Echoes.” In a year of disruption, upheaval, loss, war, pandemic, and protest, echoes of past years of turmoil resonate. We will explore the shared frequencies between our contemporary era and critical historic moments that left an indelible impact on Washington, D.C. in the early twentieth century. History and its conflict and confluences often produce compelling moments of resonance. We hope that you will consider submitting to the conference and sharing this Call for Papers with your circles! Submissions are due August 31, 2020, by 11:59 p.m. Please see the attached Call for Papers for more details.

The conference committee invites presentations and posters on topics related to the history, archaeology, and culture of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., including the federal government and nearby Maryland and Virginia. The D.C. History Conference is an interdisciplinary conference. We welcome papers and presentations from public and cultural historians as well as scholars in other fields, in addition to community members and local organizers. The conference encourages participation of students at all education levels.
