The American Institute for Sri Lankan Studies (AISLS) announces the continuation of its fellowship program.  AISLS fellowships support two to six months of research in Sri Lanka by scholars who already hold a PhD or the equivalent at the time they begin their fellowship tenure.  Projects may be broken up into two or more visits, but only one return airfare will be provided.  Proposals in all fields in the social sciences and humanities are eligible.   Projects in other areas (e.g. law, environmental studies) that contribute to the understanding of Sri Lankan history, culture, or society are also invited.  Scholars with little or no experience in Sri Lanka as well as specialists are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be US citizens.  This program is funded by a grant from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the US State Department.
