ACLS invites applications for the ninth competition of the Mellon/ACLS Public Fellows program. This year, the program will place up to 21 recent PhDs from the humanities and humanistic social sciences in two-year term staff positions at partnering organizations in government and the nonprofit sector.  Fellows will participate in the core work of these partner organizations and will have access to professional and peer mentoring. Each fellowship carries a stipend of $68,000 per year, as well as health insurance, a relocation stipend, and $3,000 toward professional development activities. The program is made possible by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The 2019 Mellon/ACLS Public Fellows will take up roles in the fields of arts management, communications, development, environmental conservation, international affairs, public policy, and publishing, and will work intensively on projects advancing equitable economic development, civic engagement, inclusive communities, and much more.

Applicants must have a PhD in the humanities or humanistic social sciences conferred between September 1, 2015, and June 21, 2019, and must have defended and deposited their dissertations no later than April 5, 2019.
