Rare Book School (RBS) is accepting applications on a rolling basis for our five-day, intensive courses on manuscript, printed, and digital materials. With world-class instruction and resources, and an emphasis on hands-on experience, we are pleased to offer courses that may be of interest to historians.
Several of our courses are still accepting applications, including:
- The History of Printed Book Illustration in the West, taught by Erin C. Blake (Folger Shakespeare Library) in Charlottesville, 4–9 June
- Scholarly Editing: Principles & Practice, taught by David Vander Meulen (University of Virginia) in Charlottesville, 11–16 June
- Advanced Seminar in Medieval Manuscripts, taught by Barbara A. Shailor (Yale University) in New Haven, 11–16 June
- The Books of the Plays: Shakespeare & Print, taught by David Scott Kastan (Yale University) in New Haven, 11–16 June
- American Publishers' Bookbindings, 1800-1900, taught by Todd Pattison (Northeast Document Conservation Center) in Charlottesville, 9–14 July
- The History of the Book in China, taught by Soren Edgren (Princeton University) in Charlottesville, 9–14 July
- Seminar in Western Codicology, taught by M. Michèle Mulchahey (Pontifical Institute for Medieval Studies) in Charlottesville, 23–28 July
