 Honoring the memory and lasting vision of Thomas C. Cundy, Sr. the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience, Department of History, Florida State University anticipates offering at least one $500 travel grant for scholars and graduate students (ABD) to use the holdings of the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience in 2017-2018.    

 

Founded in 1997, the Institute maintains one of the nation’s largest archives documenting the human dimension of the Second World War with special emphasis on the role of American servicemen and servicewomen as well as those serving on the home front. Among the noteworthy collections are the Tom Brokaw Collection containing letters, photographs, and manuscripts used in the writing of the Greatest Generation and the Anne and Wayne Coloney papers that includes a set of family papers beginning in the 1780s and continuing into the 21st Centur For more information on the Institute’s collections, please visit the website at: ww2.fsu.edu. Applicants for this program should submit by May 1, 2017 a proposal of no more than five pages in the form of a letter, a current c.v., and the names and addresses of three references, all in a PDF document. Graduate student applicants should also submit a letter of recommendation from their Dissertation Advisor or the Director of Graduate Studies of their program.
