Career Fair

The AHA will hold its sixth annual Career Fair on January 5, 2019, from 1-4 p.m. in the Hilton Chicago, Stevens D. The Career Fair introduces job candidates and students to historians working in a wide variety of careers. Advisers will be available for informational interviews and informal conversations to share their experiences about how to transition from history studies to careers within and beyond the professoriate. Last year, advisers came from business, academic administration, universities, independent schools, community colleges, historical societies, government, and publishing. A number of assistant professors will also participate in the Career Fair at our popular Ask an Assistant Professor table.

Talk to a Career Fair adviser to learn more about:

  • The many career options available to historians
  • Pathways from graduate school to employment
  • Articulating the value of historical thinking to employers
  • Finding jobs in and outside the academy

All annual meeting attendees are encouraged to attend! E-mail Dylan Ruediger, Career Diversity for Historians coordinator, with any questions.
