Call for Papers: Comparative Home Fronts

The Institute on World War II and the Human Experience at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, in conjunction with Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island extends a call for papers for an international conference, "Comparative Home Fronts: World War II" to be held at the Hotel Duval in Tallahassee, Florida, in Junary 14-17, 2016.

A total war that witnessed the mobilization of virtually aspect of society, World War II saw the blurring of the line between combatants and civilians.  We seek papers that consider not only the major Allied and Axis powers, but also the home fronts in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.  Comparative papers on the impact of the war on gender, ethnicity, religion, education, and family life are especially encouraged. 

Paper proposals should be 250-500 words in length and be accompanied by short c.v. (2-5 pages).  Single papers as well as session proposals are welcome.

Proposals should be submitted to G. Kurt Piehler, Director, Institute on World War II and the Human Experience at kpiehler@fsu.edu by April 15, 2015.  A limited number of travel grants will be available with preference given to graduate students and scholars without access to institutional funding.
