Basic Membership Benefits
- The American Historical Review
Since 1895, the AHR has been the major journal of record for the historical profession, offering scholarship from every major field of study. Published five times annually.
- AHA's Perspectives on History
The major national news monthly for the historical profession, Perspectives on History offers articles and commentary on teaching, technology, history in the media, public history, archives, and research, as well as comprehensive job listings for academic and public historians. Published nine times annually.

- AHA's Annual Meeting
Members can present papers at the AHA's annual meeting—the largest annual gathering of historians in the United States—and receive the annual meeting program and discounts on registration at the meeting.

- Job Ads
The AHA publishes job advertisements for faculty position openings, fellowships, internships, and other history-related positions on the AHA web site and in the job ad pages of Perspectives on History.
- AHA Grants
The AHA sponsors four small grant-in-aid programs that are available to members only. All grants are offered annually and are intended to further research in progress. Preference is given to advanced doctoral students, non-tenured faculty, and unaffiliated scholars. They may be used for travel to a library or archive; microfilming, photography, or photocopying; borrowing or access fees; and similar research expenses.
- Directory of Grants, Fellowships, and Prizes
Offering information on more than 450 funding sources from undergraduate scholarships to postdoctoral fellowships and awards for written work and publications the AHA’s online guide can help members find funding to begin or continue a research project or degree program.
Choice Reviews Online
AHA members have complimentary access to Choice Reviews Online. A publication of the Association of College & Research Libraries, Choice carries over 7,000 reviews of new scholarly books and electronic resources annually. Its online database holds reviews of over 160,000 titles extending back to September 1988. Choice aims to produce reviews that are “concise, authoritative, and timely.”

APSA Joint Membership
APSA Joint Membership - Receive a subscription to APSR and PS, access to APSRonline and PSonline, as well as discounts on the Annual Meeting and other services.

Member Services Program (MSP)
The Member Services Program provides the Association's other publications (that is, in addition to Perspectives on History and the American Historical Review, which are included in regular membership).
MSP category 1: Receive the 7-15 AHA pamphlets produced during the coming year of your membership.
MSP category 2: Receive the current edition of the Directory of History Departments and Organizations (if you sign up between October 1 and April 1) or the next edition as soon as it comes off press in early fall.
MSP category 3: Receive everything in the previous two categories. - History Compass

For an added fee of $31 paid when joining or renewing, AHA members can gain full access to History Compass, a cutting-edge online journal that publishes peer-reviewed survey articles of the most important research and current thinking from across the entire discipline.

ACLS Humanities E-Book
For an added fee paid when joining or renewing, members can receive electronic access to the ACLS Humanities E-Book, across-searchable, full texts of nearly 2,700 high-quality books in history and the humanities from over 90 university presses, sponsored by the American Council of Learned Societies.
- Community College Humanities Association
For an added fee of $35 paid when joining or renewing, AHA members gain full membership in the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA). Membership benefits include publications, the peer-reviewed annual journal, Community College Humanities Review, and the tri-annual newsletter, The Community College Humanist, as well as reduced registration fees at CCHA Conferences.
