The 2007 Annual Meeting will be held January 4–7, 2007 in downtown Atlanta with events scheduled in the Hilton Atlanta (headquarters), Atlanta Marriott Marquis (co-headquarters), the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, and the Westin Peachtree Plaza Atlanta.

Accommodations
Housing for the 2007 Annual Meeting through the housing bureau of the Atlanta Convention Bureau closed on December 14, 8:00 p.m. EST.
Hotels are sold out of the original blocks of rooms (see charts below for additional information).
Standard Room Reservations
Standard room: The Atlanta Marriott Marquis has opened an additional block of rooms at the AHA’s meeting rates ($99 single, $119 double, $129 triple/quad; plus nightly taxes). Please note, however, that the Marriott is sold out on the night of Wednesday, January 3. Rooms are available for the nights of January 4, 5, and 6.
To make a reservation, beginning Tuesday Dec. 19th:
Call the hotel’s toll free number 1- 888-855-5701. Ask for reservations and advise the agent that you are attending the AHA Annual Meeting January 4-7, 2007
Make a reservation online through the Atlanta Marriott Marquis web site. The group code will be inserted automatically.
Suite Reservations
Suites: A limited number of suites are still available at the Residence Inn Downtown Atlanta. The hotel will extend the AHA’s meeting rate of $129 per night, plus taxes.
To make a reservation: Call Brenda Archie at 404-522-0950 ext. 521. Advise the sales manager that you are attending the American Historical Association meeting January 4-7, 2007.
To Modify or Cancel an Existing Reservation
Beginning December 19, attendees who wish to change or cancel existing reservations must contact the hotel directly (between December 14 and 19, the housing service is transferring reservations to the individual hotels). After December 19, date changes made directly with the hotel for arrivals or departures can only be made based upon hotel availability. Reservations canceled after December 14 but prior to 72 hours of arrival will be subject to a $25 processing fee.
Please note that reservations canceled within 72 hours of arrival date are subject to forfeiture of the entire amount of the deposit.
Individuals cannot call the hotels directly to make a new reservation (except as noted above), only to modify or cancel an existing reservation

Preregistration rates for the Annual Meeting are no longer available. Onsite registration rates now apply.
Fees for registering are now:

$60 student members
$70 student nonmembers
$60 unemployed
$30 precollegiate teachers (evidence of employment is required for the precollegiate teachers’ rate).
Transportation
Air Travel and Car Rental
Association Travel Concepts (ATC) is the official travel agency for the annual meeting. As such, ATC has negotiated discounts with United Airlines, American Airlines, Avis Rent A Car, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car to bring attendees special air and car rental rates that are lower than those available to the public.

Ground Transportation
The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, located 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta, serves the Atlanta area. The airport has the world’s largest passenger terminal and offers more than 2,600 daily flights with direct service to 166 domestic cities and 51 cities in 38 foreign countries. Eighty percent of the U.S. population lives within a 2-hour flight of Atlanta.

The Atlanta Link - Is the sole shuttle operator at the airport that serves the downtown area. The Atlanta Link ticketing counter is located in the Ground Transportation Center in the Arrivals Lobby inside the airport as you come up the escalator in the main terminal (before baggage claim). The regular rate to downtown is $16.50 (1 way); $29 (roundtrip). The shuttle leaves the airport every 15 minutes from 6:00 a.m.-12 a.m. Hotel pickup times are twice an hour at 30-minute intervals from the downtown hotels. For pickups after 5:00 p.m. from the hotel, please call to arrange a pickup time. Public transit (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, MARTA) trains and buses ($1.75 one way; extended stay passes available). MARTA trains arrive and depart from the airport every eight minutes. In 15 minutes, a passenger can travel the ten miles to downtown Atlanta.

Job Register
The Job Register Reservation Packet is available for downloading by institutions that will be interviewing in Atlanta. Job Register rooms and tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a reservation deadline of November 15, 2006. The packet also contains forms and information for those institutions interviewing outside of the AHA Job Register facilities who wish to take advantage of Job Register services and notify the AHA of other interview locations.
