Affiliated Societies at the Meeting

Joint Sessions
Affiliates may submit proposals for review by the AHA Program Committee by the February 15 deadline. If accepted, such proposals will be listed as joint with the AHA.
There is no charge to affiliates for sessions accepted for joint sponsorship by the AHA Program Committee.
Historians from the United States on sessions accepted by the AHA Program Committee are required to be AHA members.
Affiliate Sessions
Affiliated societies also have the option to organize sessions and events that are not subject to review by the Program Committee. Details are due to the AHA in late May.
Affiliates pay a small fee for sessions scheduled in regular session slots, and are responsible for any AV costs. Participants on affiliated society sessions are not required to be AHA members; everyone participating in the annual meeting is required to register. There is a discounted rate for nonmember speakers.
Important Dates and Deadlines
February 15
Deadline for submitting proposals for joint sessions to the AHA Program Committee.
Late April or Early May
AHA Program Committee notifies submitters of its decisions; staff will notify affiliates of decisions about joint sessions.
Early May
Submission of affiliate sessions, receptions, meetings, and lunches begins; a link to the online submission system will be posted to the affiliate community. Affiliates may resubmit proposals not selected by the AHA Program Committee at this time.
May 31
Deadline for submitting affiliate sessions and events that are not subject to review by the AHA Program Committee.
Late July
Schedule of events and program listings sent to affiliate organizers for final review.
September
Registration and housing open. Online program live.
November
Print program mailed to AHA members.
