Project Summary

This project has two basic components: a cooperative learning approach and a primary source approach. Both are based on the idea that a world history course should teach the students to use world history methods to interpret secondary and primary materials. For textbook material, students use the world history methods to write journal entries out of class and construct charts in groups in class. Some samples of group work are included in the project. Primary material is handled through directed reading questions that focus on three classics, the Odyssey, the Ramayana and the Analects.
