The 2025 AHA Business Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. ET in the Mercury Ballroom of the New York Hilton. The resolution “To Oppose Scholasticide in Gaza,” with the requisite number of member signatures, is on the meeting agenda. For details on the meeting, visit the AHA website.

In advance of the AHA25 Business Meeting, AHA members are invited to discuss the resolution on the AHA25 Business Meeting Community online forum.  We encourage all members who wish to participate in the conversation to join the online forum via the AHA Communities site. This online forum will enable all members an opportunity to participate in conversation and debate.

To join, visit historians.org/business-mtg-forum. Login with your email address and your AHA password. Then click the blue Join Community button. If you have a problem, please email info@historians.org, and someone will reply within 24 hours on weekdays.

Please read the following guidelines and rules carefully before submitting any posts.

  • The business meeting community will open to submissions on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10 AM ET. It will close at 4 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024. Final posts must be submitted by December 19 at 4 PM.
  • All posts to the business meeting community will be moderated by a member of staff and an elected official of the Association. Most comments will likely be reviewed within 24 hours of submission during the work week.
  • To ensure that the discussion is not dominated by a few voices, all members are limited to three approved posts total to the community.
  • Posts to the Business Meeting community are limited to 600 words. If your post is longer than 600 words, it will be rejected. Posts will not be edited by AHA staff.
  • As the AHA’s Statement on Standards of Professional Conduct states, historians “believe in vigorous debate, but they also believe in civility.” As a discipline we “celebrate intellectual communities governed by mutual respect and constructive criticism.” Please keep this in mind when posting to all AHA forums.
  • Contributions that have ad hominem attacks against individuals or communities or are deemed to be uncivil will not be posted.
  • Posts submitted to the Member Forum related to any aspect of the business meeting will be reposted to the business meeting community instead.
  • The business meeting community is restricted to members only. This is a private community intended to allow for frank, thoughtful conversation among members. Posts are not to be quoted or screenshotted, or otherwise shared outside this community, whether on social media or elsewhere.
  • We will follow the Member Forum Guidelines when reviewing submissions. Please be sure your post adheres to the guidelines.

Thank you for following these guidelines and for being part of our community. We look forward to your posts and conversations, and to seeing many of you in New York for the annual meeting on January 3-6, 2025. You can register for the meeting and make discounted hotel reservations on the annual meeting pages of the AHA website.
