Slotkin Symposium
Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29

Join us as Wesleyan University celebrates Richard Slotkin’s 80th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the publication of the first groundbreaking book in his landmark trilogy, Regeneration Through Violence: The Mythology of the American Frontier, 1600-1860 (1973). At this virtual symposium, Professor Slotkin will be offering a preview of his next book, Divided Against Itself: American National Myth in the Age of Culture War. The event will continue with a series of panels composed by Professor Slotkin’s students and colleagues, who will be joined by other distinguished names in the field of American Studies to comment on his provocative work and fundamental contribution to American intellectual life.
