The Friends of the Missouri State Archives are happy to announce the 2023 William E. Foley Research Fellowship. Offered to support the use of the state’s public records in scholarly research, the fellowship comes with a $1,500 award intended to defray expenses incurred when visiting the Missouri State Archives and/or its St. Louis branch. Any project utilizing the Missouri State Archives’ holdings to further knowledge of state or national history is eligible.

Applicants for the 2023 William E. Foley Research Fellowship should complete the attached form and submit it along with a research proposal (1,000 words or less), CV and list of three professional references to brian.rogers@sos.mo.gov. To be considered, application materials must be received by Friday, April 14, 2023. Notification of the award will occur by Friday, April 28, 2023.

Selection of the 2023 fellow will be based on proposal soundness, its relation to the Missouri State Archives’ holdings as demonstrated by specific collection citations, the potential impact of the research on the academic community and applicant qualifications. Projects making use of materials only available at the Missouri State Archives or its St. Louis branch have preference over those using records available online.
