Rewriting Southeast Asian History from the Ground Up:

Using Anthropological Field Methods to Give Peoples Back their History

Articles are welcome that use social anthropological research methods on history to offer new perspectives for identity, cultural pride and promoting cross-cultural tolerance in Southeast Asia, challenging existing “official (government and majority culture and colonial) histories” by putting existing data into ethnographic, holistic and other anthropological frameworks to produce alternate explanations of what happened and explaining why those alternative explanations are important today.  One example of a use of alternative methods on history is that presented in a recently published article in transciencehttps://www2.hu-berlin.de/transcience/Vol11_No2_28_105.pdf.  Other approaches rooted in empirical methods are welcome.

Articles from all historical periods are welcome, and specifically pieces on Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, Timor, Chinese and Indian influences, as well as photographs and unusual formats.  Book reviews, retrospectives and essays/commentaries considered.

Authors are welcome to discuss potential submissions and other pieces that might complement this theme, with the Special Issues editor. Send all submissions and queries to Special Issues Editor, Dr. David Lempert, by e-mail at:  superlemp@yahoo.com .
