Call for Papers/teaching demos for a conference on "teaching the 21st century," Avon Old Farms School, Avon, CT.

We seek papers and creative teaching demos on any aspect of the 21st century. The conference audience will include academic scholars, secondary educators, and high school students. The aim is to use the discipline and methods of history to make sense of the cataclysmic changes wrought during this century. We aspire both to contribute to scholarship on the recent past and affect how it's taught.

Proposals should include an absract of about 300 words that defines topic and sourcing, a brief c.v., and contact information. Limited financial aid is available for travel. Applicants seeking such aid should include an estimate of costs. Aid will be distributed based on the vetting committee's judgment of the proposal's quality.

Deadline for proposals is 15 November 2022. Acceptances will go out in early January. The conference will take place on campus 7-8 April 2023. Keynote speakers include historian Richard White and journalist Ramita Navia.

Please email proposals to conference chair Dr. Chris Doyle at doylec@avonoldfarms.com
