2021-2022 Whiting Foundation Public Engagement Programs

The Whiting Foundation has invited the AHA to make nominations for its 2021-2022 Public Engagement Programs. These awards support ambitious, collaborative projects that infuse the depth, historical richness, and nuance of the humanities into public life. Tenure-track and recently tenured faculty and full-time non-tenure-track faculty at an equivalent career stage are eligible to apply for either $50,000 to fund fully developed public engagement projects or $10,000 seed grants to develop new projects.  Full application guidelines are available online.

The AHA may nominate up to four members for consideration. To apply, please follow the Whiting proposal guidelines and submit your proposal to Dylan Ruediger at druediger@historians.org by May 1, 2020. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of members of the AHA Council and historians with established track records of publicly engaged scholarship. Nominees will be notified by June 1, 2020, and invited to apply for funding by the Whiting Foundation, with applications due June 29, 2020.
