Biennial Whaling History Symposium

The New Bedford Whaling Museum’s Biennial Whaling History Symposium returns on April 27-28, 2019 with a focus on gaps in analysis and new perspectives on whaling, world cultures, and contemporary issues. Scholars and experts representing a variety of disciplines will present on a wide range of topics. The Whaling History Symposium follows in the tradition of other broad-based examinations of whaling history, which have included voyage events, technology, genealogy, race and gender, social history, ecosystems, and the arts. Presentations will cross disciplines, presenting broad-ranging, but highly focused scholarly insights and important, but often overlooked, historical perspectives. Details, full schedule, and advance registration are at www.whalingmuseum.org. The NBWM is located at 18 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford, MA.
