Amos E. Simpson Travel Awards

LHA Travel Awards

The Louisiana Historical Association will offer two short-term travel awards for 2019. Each grant will provide a stipend of $1,500 for research in Louisiana archives and collections. These grants are designed to assist scholars interested in Louisiana history, for whom distance and expense present a substantial obstacle to research in the state's rich archives. Complete applications are due by March 1, 2019, for travel between May 1, 2019 and September 15, 2019.

Eligibility

These awards are open to independent scholars, advanced graduate students, and holders of the Ph.D. or the equivalent, with current members of the LHA receiving preference. Those without significant means of institutional support will receive special consideration. Applicants who do not reside in the U.S. must indicate their citizenship. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or already hold the J-1 visa or equivalent documents that will allow them to accept the stipend. The LHA cannot facilitate visas.
