The $2500 Abdel Ross Wentz Prize is awarded for a a graduate student essay on the history of American Lutheranism. (A separate $2500 prize is award to a graduate student in a seminary or divinity school.) Essays based on original research on any aspect of American Lutheran history, or essays providing an interpretive survey and critique of published research are equally welcome. Institutional studies and congregational histories are acceptable, if they illuminate broader historical trends. The Prize is administered by the Lutheran Historical Society of the Middle Atlantic.
