The Michigan Historical Review is pleased to announce its 2018 Graduate Student Essay Contest. Entries must be graduate-level papers that involve the history of Michigan in some manner and include original research from primary sources. The winner receives publication in our journal plus a $2000 cash prize. 

Papers should be no longer than 12,000 words, foot-noted, double-spaced, without the writer’s name on any pages. A cover letter including the school program and supervisor’s name must be included with the essay and e-mailed to mihisrev@cmich.edu no later than 1 July 2018. Papers will be judged on originality, research, style, and proper documentation. Payment is awarded in two allotments: at the time of announcement and at press.
