Federal Competitive Grant funding is now available for K-12 History and Civics Education professional development. This new program promotes innovative instruction, learning strategies, and professional development in American history, civics and government, and geography, with an emphasis on activities and programs that benefit low-income students and underserved populations.
 
$1.7 million dollars has been allocated to support 2-7 projects for up to three years, with the possibility of renewal. Higher education institutions and other organizations with expertise in this area are encouraged to apply.
 
The deadline on notice to apply is August 10th (this entails you telling the US Department of Education you intend to apply).
 
The deadline to submit applications is August 21st.
