The American Historical Association is proud to partner with the Library of Congress in serving the Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Mid-Atlantic/U.S. Territories Region. The TPS grant program furthers the Library’s mission to engage, inspire, and inform audiences across the country with a universal and enduring source of knowledge and creativity.
Through the TPS Regional Program, the AHA awards subgrants to a wide variety of organizations that plan to integrate the Library’s resources into educational programs, teaching materials, and other related projects. In addition, the Lewis-Houghton Civics and Democracy Initiative (LHI) supports civics, history, and democracy learning among secondary students, using creative arts-based primary sources. Programs awarded grants through TPS and LHI are welcomed into the Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Consortium with a shared goal to increase the educational value of the Library’s collections.
The Mid-Atlantic/U.S. Territories Region encompasses Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well as American Samoa, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
