Sue C. Patrick was born August 20, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. She decided to become a history major while in the ninth grade. After graduating cum laude from the University of Texas (Austin) in 1975, she enrolled at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she met her future husband Oscar B. Chamberlain. After receiving her M.A. in 1977, she moved to Indiana University (Bloomington) to pursue her Ph.D. She completed her dissertation on reform of the Federal Reserve System in the 1930s and graduated in 1988. After a series of ad hoc positions, she was hired by the University of Wisconsin-Barron County in 1990. She is now an associate professor, living happily on Rice Lake with her husband and two cats. Her publications include Reform of the Federal Reserve System in the Early 1930s: The Politics of Money and Banking (Garland 1993), three articles in Encyclopedia of the American Civil War: A Political, Social, and Military History (ABC-Clio 2000), five articles in American National Biography (Oxford 1998), and four articles in Political Parties and Elections in the United States: An Encyclopedia (Garland 1991).
