George Washington and Medicine

Then and Now

National Library of Medicine | Jun 15, 2021

George Washington and Medicine: Then and Now encourages students to compare their previous knowledge of George Washington with primary and secondary source material. Using materials from the exhibition, “Every Necessary Care and Attention: George Washington and Medicine,” students gain a more complex view of the first American president and changes in medical practices over time. The lesson plan is designed for grades 7 through 9, but additional resources can be adapted for other grade levels.
