Bhakti Poets is a long teaching module that offers a window into South Asian gender and convention through the Bhakti Movement—a Hindu religious movement originating in the 6th century CE and inspired by a number of prominent women poets. This site includes an informational essay, activities, discussion questions, potential adaptation of the material for class use, lesson plans, guidance on engaging with the sources, and a DBQ essay prompt relating to nine annotated primary sources.
