Jennifer McNabb is professor and head of the Department of History at the University of Northern Iowa. Her current research focuses on the social and legal history of marriage in early modern England. She is a past president of the Rocky Mountain Medieval and Renaissance Association and the incoming president of the Midwest Conference on British Studies. At UNI she is co-project leader for the development of the Center for Civic Education, a project supported in its planning stages by funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Before moving to UNI in 2019, she spent fourteen years at Western Illinois University, serving as faculty leader for a range of department, college, and university committees, as department chair, and as associate director of WIU’s Centennial Honors College. She has served as a facilitator at multiple AHA Chairs’ Workshops and organized the 2022–23 AHA Chairs’ Webinar series. As a Council member of the Professional Division, she is committed to recognizing and promoting the contributions of historians inside and outside academia in ways that are responsive to the demands of a rapidly shifting educational landscape and global marketplace.
