On June 30, 2025, I will be stepping aside as executive director of the AHA. When I signed my third five-year contract in 2020, I made this intention clear, so this is neither a new decision nor a secret. I have referenced this plan during campus visits, in meetings, and other gatherings. This formal announcement comes now because the search for the AHA’s next executive director will be announced this month.
With 16 months still remaining it’s hardly the moment to thank everyone who has made this such a rewarding experience. And this venue is too brief to even begin to reflect on that experience. Still too much work to do.
