May 5, 2017 – The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) unveiled a new model for the preservation and accessibility of presidential records. According to the new format, “NARA will administer neither a museum nor a traditional ‘Presidential Library.'” Instead, its focus will be on transferring the records of the President Barack Obama into digital formats to the greatest extent possible. The digitization effort will allow researchers to access the documents faster than before, regardless of location.
