Brendan Gillis, AHA’s director of teaching and learning, and I will be attending the annual meeting of the National Council for the Social Studies in Boston from November 20–23. We can be reached through the conference app or by email beforehand. Brendan is co-leading a clinic focused on building public support for the social studies curriculum at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and will participate on a panel focused on teaching revolutionary history on the eve of the 250th anniversary of US independence at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. I will join David Blight, Jennifer Morgan, and Brendan on Saturday at 10:20 a.m. for a panel on the AHA’s recently released report, American Lesson Plan: Teaching US History in Secondary Schools.
