June 6, 2018 - The AHA mourns the passing of historian Ira Berlin. Ira received the Association's Award for Scholarly Distinction in 2015, served on the Research Division from 1987-1990, and testified to Congress under difficult circumstances on our behalf in support of federal funding for the National Historical Records and Publications Commission. His extraordinary generosity and kindness to AHA staff members over a period that spans more than three decades offers a model of mentorship, professional responsibility, collegiality.
