AHA in the News

AHA executive director Sarah Weicksel was quoted in a Washington Post article about Secretary of Education Linda McMahon’s use of an AI-generated image in a post celebrating civil rights activist Ida B. Wells. Weicksel objected to the growing use of AI to generate historical imagery on social media. “The use of AI to pull together infographics about individuals has resulted in poor quality and inconsistent resources in education,” Weicksel said. “The AI images are pulling from material that is historically inaccurate. We have excellent sources for all of these women, so there is no point to using something that is AI generated.”
