Purpose: This group will explore the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for history teaching and learning. Based on its assessment of this evolving landscape, the committee will propose guidelines or professional standards to address the practical, ethical, and pedagogical consequences of the ready availability of AI chatbots, large language models, and other machine learning tools for history instruction at all levels. This process might either include or culminate in recommendations for sessions at the AHA annual meeting.
