The American Historical Association will hold the Virginia Conference on Introductory History Courses on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture (VMHC) in Richmond. With support from New American History and Bunk History at the University of Richmond, VMHC, and other partners, this two-day, regional conference facilitates conversations among educators who teach introductory history courses, whether in secondary schools, community colleges, or four-year universities.
This conference brings together history educators who teach introductory US, European, and world history courses in middle and high schools, community colleges, and four-year colleges and universities across Virginia and the surrounding region. Participants will engage in interactive workshops, exchange ideas with colleagues, and learn from scholars and educators committed to strengthening history education. The conference offers a valuable opportunity to build connections, share effective practices, and advance our common goal of student success.
