Networking and Career Advancement
The AHA sponsors four small grant-in-aid programs that are available to members only. All grants are offered annually and are intended to further research in progress. Preference is given to advanced doctoral students, non-tenured faculty, and unaffiliated scholars. They may be used for travel to a library or archive; microfilming, photography, or photocopying; borrowing or access fees; and similar research expenses.
Members can communicate and collaborate with other historians in this new online networking opportunity. AHA Communities includes discussion forums, blogs, a directory, and a glossary. Members can form their own communities to discuss specific topics or concerns, as well as create their own blogs.
AHA Career Center
All jobs posted on the AHA Career Center are accessible freely to the public. AHA institutional members receive a discount on placement of job ads on this enhanced web platform.
Interfolio is an online service that streamlines the application process for job seekers by delivering and collecting professional dossiers. AHA members receive a complimentary subscription to use the Interfolio Dossier service. Users can manage multiple letters of recommendation, upload writing samples, choose which materials will be delivered to prospective employers, and create professional portfolios to showcase their work. Community College Humanities Association
For an added fee of $35 paid when joining or renewing, AHA members receive $5 off an annual membership in the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA). Membership benefits include publications; the peer-reviewed annual journal, Community College Humanities Review; and the tri-annual newsletter, the Community College Humanist, as well as reduced registration fees at CCHA conferences.
American Political Science Association
For an added fee of $75 paid when joining or renewing, AHA members receive a joint associate membership in the American Political Science Association. APSA associate membership includes the choice of ONE print subscription to the following scholarly journals: American Political Science Review (APSR), Perspectives on Politics, or PS: Political Science and Politics (PS). Members will continue to receive online access to all three journals. Additional benefits include discounts on the APSA annual meeting and other services.

The History Teacher
For an added fee of $32 paid when joining or renewing, members receive more than 15% off an annual subscription to The History Teacher, a peer-reviewed, quarterly journal from the Society for History Education that publishes inspirational scholarship on traditional and unconventional techniques in history education. AHA student members can subscribe for only $21, and all AHA members can purchase individual issues for only $12.
Members of the American Historical Association are able to purchase a one-year JPASS access plan for $99—a 50% discount on the listed rate. JPASS includes unlimited reading and 120 article downloads—not only to the American Historical Review but to more than 1,500 humanities, social science, and science journals in the JSTOR archival collections.
