Julie Gibert

Julie GibertJulie Gibert is an associate professor of history at Canisius College, where she has recently completed a stint as department chair. She teaches the history of Britain, Ireland, and the British Empire as well as the European surveys. Her research focuses on late 19th- and 20th-century British social history; she has published and presented papers on a variety of topics including women’s education, the changing role of domestic service in British home life, and the depiction of British society in film and television. Having been involved in revision of the Core Curriculum, she has recently developed new courses and pedagogies designed to help students develop their skills in both written and oral communication. Her interest in the Tuning Project stems from her work in the classroom as well as her experience in coordinating departmental assessment efforts and in initiating a revision of major requirements.
