Digital Collections from the Washington Library

Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington | Jun 2, 2021

Digital Collections from the Washington Library are selected from among the resources of the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington, and from other staff resources at George Washington's Mount Vernon. This rich collection of letters, documents, ledgers, newspapers, and photographs shed light on George and Martha Washington, their families and descendants, the Mount Vernon estate, and the social, political, and economic culture of 17th– to 19th–century Virginia. Annual reports of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association of the Union document the group's work in preserving and restoring the historic site.
