About the Fellowship
The Bank of America/David and Rosalee McCullough Research Fellowship supports projects using materials from Marietta College’s Special Collection that can only be accessed on-site.
Located in Marietta, Ohio, the first organized settlement in the Northwest Territory, Marietta College’s Legacy Library holds 18th, 19th, and 20th century collections focused on the new nation, the Northwest Territory, and the industry and culture of Southeast Ohio and the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Fellows will receive:
• -$1,000 stipend for a two-week residency or $2,000 for a four-week residency
• -Free accommodation in an on-campus apartment
• -Free meals in on-campus dining facilities
In addition to conducting their research, fellows are expected to engage with Marietta College students and faculty in the form of class visits and an informal lecture at the end of the visit. Fellows who conduct their research during the summer are expected to make arrangements to fulfill these requirements during the academic year.

Who is eligible
• -Academic historians, graduate students, and undergraduate students
• -Community historians and independent researchers or writers
• -K-12 teachers or other professionals developing curriculum materials
Application requirements
Before applying, all applicants must contact Special Collections to discuss research topics and availability of materials.
Application packets are accepted via email at speccoll@marietta.edu and should include:
• 1. A 1-2 page letter of interest that includes a description of the research project, the length of research (two or four weeks), and which collections or portions of collections you plan to access
• 2. Current curriculum vitae
• 3. Two letters of support
Applications for a summer or fall residency are due March 31. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all pieces of the application are submitted by the due date. Incomplete applications will not be considered. At this time, Marietta College is not sponsoring any visas for the fellowship.

Strong applications will:
• -Be relevant to the collections contained at Legacy Library
• -Provide new perspectives or new approaches to the material
• -Have a concrete end product or goal achievable by the applicant in the time allowed by the fellowship
• -Require on-site access to collections
