Lake Institute on Faith & Giving is pleased to announce the 2026-2027 Lake Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship for doctoral students whose research engages issues at the intersection of faith and giving.

Few scholars may see their work at this specific intersection, but we define faith and giving broadly. Faith may include Western and Eastern religions, spirituality or spiritual practices, emerging belief systems, and beyond. Giving includes philanthropy, volunteering, prosocial behaviors, informal giving such as mutual aid, and more.

Lake Institute helps to build the field of faith and giving by supporting the work of emerging scholars. This one-year fellowship is given annually to support the final year of dissertation writing for a doctoral candidate at a U.S. graduate school. Learn more about the current fellow here.

The Fellow will:
• Serve as the 2026-2027 Lake Institute on Faith & Giving Dissertation Fellow, funded through a $30,000 dissertation fellowship.
• Be invited to special research-focused Lake Institute engagements
• Have access to Lake Institute’s resources and expertise and the opportunity to share their research more broadly

To be considered, applicants must submit a completed application form, resume/CV, fellowship proposal, approved dissertation proposal, selected bibliography, completion timetable, graduate transcript, as well as two letters of recommendation.
