Nick Kryczka, former AHA research coordinator and a co-author of the AHA’s American Lesson Plan: Teaching US History in Secondary Schools, was featured on LAist’s AirTalk with Larry Mantle podcast for the November 7, 2024, episode. Kryczka was joined on the podcast by AHA member Daisy Martin, director of the History & Civics Project at University of California, Santa Cruz, to discuss the politically divisive climate that has led to fears of “indoctrination” in the history classroom. They also discussed the findings of the report, which distills insights gathered during a two-year exploration of secondary history education to illuminate how the three levels where decisions are made about what students learn in US history.
