AHA member Ty Seidule (Hamilton Coll.) was interviewed on NPR’s Here & Now about the Pentagon’s decision to return a Confederate monument to Arlington National Cemetery. “Commemoration is about value. It’s about who we value,” Seidule said. “It’s a Confederate monument that is meant to declare that the Confederacy was right, the white South was right, the United States was wrong, slavery is good, and segregation is good. . . . It’s the cruelest, most hateful monument I have ever seen in this country.”
