AHA member Matthew Garcia (Dartmouth Univ.) appeared on KFSN, the ABC News affiliate in central California, to discuss his historical research that led to the discovery of sexual assault allegations against labor leader Cesar Chavez. Five years ago, Garcia’s archival research on Chavez revealed the abuse allegations. Garcia felt he did not have enough evidence to share the information publicly, so he connected with New York Times editor-at-large Manny Fernandez about the research, who co-authored a recent Times article with Sara Hurtes about the allegations.
