AHA executive director James Grossman was interviewed on Spectrum News about the history of the tradition of the US presidential inauguration. “The spectacle is important because it’s the transfer of power,” Grossman said. “When you think about how democracy works, for a long time very few countries were able to have this kind of peaceful transfer of power. It’s not always been amicable, but the spectacle is important because of that symbolism.”
